Frenship ISD is excited to announce that Cathy Barnhill has been selected as the new principal of Frenship’s 10th elementary school, scheduled to open in August 2028. Barnhill brings a wealth of experience to the role as she enters her 24th year in education.

Feeding Frenship is back for summer 2026! In partnership with Aramark, Frenship ISD will provide FREE lunches for all children 18 & under at the Frenship High School Soccer Complex and Duran Park. This school year, more than 20 Frenship ISD educators participated in the district’s Aspiring Leader Academy, also known as Aspire, a year-long leadership development program designed to strengthen instructional leaders and prepare them for future campus and district roles.

The Frenship Foundation for Leadership is proud to award 66 Frenship High School seniors with Character Scholarships totaling $92,400, marking the largest number of students and largest amount awarded in a single semester since the nonprofit was founded.

Frenship ISD students and staff came together across multiple campuses to support the annual Miracle Pennies fundraiser, benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network and UMC Children’s Hospital. Through a variety of campus-led activities, the district raised more than $24,000 to support children across the South Plains.

Jessica Hantz, a life skills teacher at Bennett Elementary School, has been named the May Teacher on the Rise recipient, recognized for her dedication to serving special needs students and the positive, lasting impact she makes in the lives of her students each day.

Last week, several Frenship elementary schools received dollhouses designed and built by Memorial High School students. The interior design and construction students collaborated to make the dollhouses, allowing the students to explore the professional relationship between construction and interior designers.

This month’s theme for Mental Health Minute is Courage. As a component of the 2021 Strategic Plan Initiative, the goal of the Mental Health Minute is to spread awareness of mental health across Frenship ISD.

Students at Ridgewood Elementary are combining creativity, science, and teamwork through a unique storm chasing project in their Reading classroom. What started as a writing assignment quickly turned into a hands-on learning experience and a shared passion for weather and engineering.

Ridgewood Elementary has been recognized as a 2026 School Transforming Learning by N2 Learning, an honor awarded to campuses across Texas demonstrating innovation and excellence in student-centered learning.
